Make Space: Order

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

I now consider myself  a Decision Making Diva. It wasn't easy but I am comfortable with the choices I've made. (Although I am worried that Great Aunt Agnes will wonder where her wedding gift went.)

There's no room to move. We are living in a barricade of boxes. What do we do  now?

Signed,

Make Space: Systems

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

We cleared out the clutter; arranged for the pick up of our donations; put out the recycling and the trash.

We are going on vacation soon and I want to be sure
'there is a place  for everything and everything is in its place' before we leave.

It seems we finally made the space  for what is important. Now we need to decide where to put it?

Sincerely,

Lost in Space

Have the No Gifts Talk

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

We left everything in its place and are enjoying our vacation. Hope you are enjoying your respite, too..

The holidays are on the horizon. We worked so hard to simplify our lives, and want to contiue to keep our lives uncomplicated..

How do we prepare the extended family for a change in our traditions?

Sincerely,

Clutter Convert

Managing New Media

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

I’ve managed to get a handle on most of the paper clutter that enters my home. However, errant dead batteries, old computer monitors, unused cell phones, miscellaneous cables , cords  and adapters take up valuable space in every room. I feel guilty discarding these items knowing everything will end up in a landfill. On the other hand, having a landfill in every room of my home is not part of my decorating scheme.

Sincerely,

Media Mad

Managing Old Media Part 2

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

We have organized the In-Use media devices and their accompanying doodads . But as we excavated the attic, basement, closets, and drawers, we discovered old photos, slides , LP records and the like.  My kids don’t even know what these items are!

Sincerely yours,

Behind the times

Storage and Recycling of Media

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

My family is in an uproar – especially the over 40 crowd. They are heartbroken that their old slides, videos, and the like are heading to the landfill. What can I do to reduce their angst but still reduce our accumulation?

Sincerely,

Progress not Regress

Holiday Hints

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

The holidays are on the horizon.
Please share any Holiday Hints that will keep me from imploding.

Holiday Hints Part 2

Dear Jo the Clutterbuster:

The Giving Day was a great idea and now I am ready to start decorating. I never was very good at Arts and Crafts at camp, so everyone knows the packages I wrapped (or surrounded with paper). Does Martha Stewart hire out?

Overtaken By Events

OTE- Overtaken By Events or When Life Happens…

We are all jugglers. We struggle to keep all the balls in the air: work, home, exercise, health care, family responsibilities, community participation, and relationship maintenance, not to mention walking the dog (or cat).

We have days/months/years when we are able to keep up with all our responsibilities. Then something unexpected happens: an accident, a sudden illness or family member’s illness, death, relocation, job change. Suddenly, we begin to drop one ball, then another.
